Where do you go for your holidays? Researching things that I know nothing about beforehand. I have loved writing ever since I can remember. Just keep at it — never give up!

What advice would you give someone who wanted to be a writer? I used to spend a lot of time in the Marlborough Sounds. What was the naughtiest thing you ever did at school? What sort of books do you like to read? Getting paid to tell lies! Margaret Mahy said of the novel: Then I start talking and somehow always end up describing something really disgusting and off-putting, or telling stories with lots of pooh and guts in them.
Is it difficult to make a living as a writer in New Zealand? I worked hard at college. It has been adapted for National Radio.
Who inspired you to start writing? Do you have a favourite author? Last updated April Hager has also published numerous educational pamphlets and guides, including Help! A holiday, to me, is being able to stay in bed and read all day! How do you think up your ideas?
I do remember my Intermediate School teacher getting pretty mad at me the day I told him he was being immature! A publisher makes my story into a book.
My favourite game is Scrabble.
My favourite movie is Adaptation. She is able to discuss being a teen and adult fiction writer, as well as a non-fiction writer and scriptwriter.
